Limerick Poem
What Organic Farming Means to me...
_____________________________________
Ther lives a young sweet maiden
Who dreams of a sweet haven.
With golden-locked curls
And great hopes for the world,
Her prayers rise on wings of the raven.
Her work, Organic Gardening
Proves more than pleasant or charming,
Renewing the soil,
An arduous toil,
An experience quite humbling.
“Such hard work, for what reason?”
Don’t folks know, it’s the season?!
“Important to me?!”
Please Lord help them see,
Her heart’s desire is no treason!
Raise a “fam’ly” and grow “veg’tables,”
On a farm that’s sustainable.
Her intent is to share
For folks needs would go bare.
Success will be inevitable.
Oh, she loves the lay of the land
As she takes the soil in her hands,
And she plants her seeds
Of the heirloom breeds
And nurtures them as she plans.
She plans her attack with great knowledge
From experience and college.
She studied and learned
Of the vital concerns
That many may not acknowledge.
With passion and a heart-of-gold,
Her story has hardly been told.
She grows for the wealth
Of each family’s health
That suits the young and the old.
The final harvest we must embrace
To fill our souls with earth’s grace.
We’ll know in our hearts
She will do her part
As a pilgrim of this sacred place.
