100% Biodegradable and Compostable
Corn Plastic
—
*Store in temperatures below 75ºF.
The 100% Biodegradable and Compostable
corn plastic will decompose within 35-40 days
in temperatures between 75ºF-110ºF.
Plastic produce bags, clamshell containers,
and fresh green's bins are now made with a
New Generation of Polymer.
The farmer has been researching and networking to supply produce in eco-friendly packaging to encourage less impact on the environment. Plastic products are traditionally made from polyethylene, a petroleum based plastic which is a non-renewable resource. Corn starch, sugarcane, or other plant based plastics are made from a renewable resources and are manufactured and distributed by select companies that have been BPI Certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute.
PLEASE NOTE: Other companies are advertising their bags as a "bio-degradable made with corn starch," and have not been BPI Certified. In fact, these imitation products are spliced with polyethylene (petroleum plastic) and do not bio-degrade. They are easily recognizable to the touch as they feel like regular plastic with a crinkling texture.
For further information on corn starch-plastic, please go to the sites listed below. The sites describe the product in greater detail and also provide links to other businesses and distributers worldwide.
